Last week, the biggest happenings around the football program came from Texas’s pro day. However, there were some major occurrences in recruiting as well. Unfortunately for the Longhorns, the biggest news story from the past week was not a good one.
On Thursday, 2022 four-star wide receiver Evan Stewart announced that he was decommitting from the Longhorns. Moreover, the Frisco Liberty product committed to Texas only about a month prior to his eventual decommitment.
According to 247Sports, Stewart is the nation’s fifth ranked wide receiver in the 2022 class.
Last Tuesday, 2022 four-star cornerback Ephesians Prysock announced that Texas was one of his top ten schools. Additionally, the only other Big 12 program to join Texas on Prysock’s list was Oklahoma.
Furthermore, the Bishop Alemany product’s announcement serves as an indicator of Texas’s increased recruiting efforts in the state of California.
Last Wednesday, 2022 five-star offensive tackle Kelvin Banks listed Texas as one of his top eight schools. Banks, a product of Summer Creek, is the second highest-rated offensive tackle in the nation according to 247Sports.
Offers
Last week, Texas was practically silent in terms of sending out offers. However, Texas did send out an offer to Jayvon Thomas, a 2023 athlete from South Oak Cliff.
