Texas vs. Texas State Recap

Texas opened the 2026 season the way a top-five team is supposed to, scoring on eight of its nine possessions and burying Texas State 59-7 in front of 102,738 at DKR. The Longhorns needed just four plays to get on the board, with Arch Manning finding Cam Coleman from six yards out at the 10:31 mark of the first quarter, and the rout was on from there.

Manning threw for 305 yards and matched his career high with four touchdown passes, spreading the ball to eight different receivers. Ryan Wingo led the way with seven catches for 121 yards, while Coleman scored twice in his Texas debut. Hollywood Smothers ran for 70 yards and caught two touchdowns, and Raleek Brown added two scores on the ground.

The defense forced three turnovers, including Graceson Littleton's 59-yard fumble return for a touchdown in the second quarter. Rasheem Biles forced that fumble and later added an interception. It was Texas' ninth straight home-opening win.
