The Texas Longhorns continue to build one of the nation’s most impressive 2027 recruiting classes, adding another elite defensive back with the commitment of four-star cornerback Brandon Sherrard from Shadow Creek High School in Pearland. Sherrard chooses Texas over LSU and Oklahoma.
At 6-foot-3 and 183 pounds, Sherrard checks every box coaches look for in a modern lockdown corner. A natural cover defender with outstanding length and an athletic frame, he has the physical tools to add healthy bulk while maintaining the speed and fluidity that make him one of Texas’ top defensive backs.
Sherrard thrives in man coverage, displaying smooth footwork, loose hips and polished technique that allow him to stay in phase with receivers from the snap through the catch point. His instincts and ball skills consistently put him in position to make plays, and once the football is in his hands, he has the vision and explosiveness to turn interceptions into touchdowns.
Sherrard’s commitment is another major victory on the recruiting trail for theTexas football program. The Longhorns have now added an impressive run of defensive back talent over the past month, including commitments from Montre Jackson and five-star standout John Meredith III. Sherrard only strengthens a position group that is quickly becoming one of the best in the country.
With his combination of length, instincts, coverage ability and playmaking skills, Sherrard projects as another impact defender who fits exactly what Texas wants in its secondary. His commitment continues to build the Longhorns’ recruiting momentum as they continue stacking elite talent on the defensive side of the ball.
