In a significant development for college football enthusiasts, Mater Dei High School’s 5-star offensive tackle, Brandon Baker, has officially committed to the University of Texas. Ranked as the number one offensive tackle prospect in the Class of 2024, Baker’s decision to don the burnt orange jersey is set to make waves in the college football landscape.

Hailing from Santa Ana, California, Mater Dei High School has been a breeding ground for top-tier talent, and Baker is no exception. Standing out amongst a pool of elite athletes, he ultimately chose the Longhorns over powerhouse programs such as Ohio State, Nebraska, Florida State, and Oregon.

Baker’s commitment to the University of Texas comes as no surprise to those who have closely followed his career. His remarkable skill set includes exceptional footwork, superb athleticism, a long reach, and a powerful punch. These attributes, combined with his physical style of play, make him a standout prospect with the potential to dominate the offensive line at the collegiate level.

Texas Longhorns fans can look forward to witnessing Baker’s prowess on the field in the coming years. His commitment marks a significant addition to the Longhorns’ roster, and he is poised to make a lasting impact on the program.

Coach Steve Sarkisian and the entire Texas Football community are thrilled to welcome Brandon Baker to Austin and are eager to see him flourish both academically and athletically. With his talent and dedication, Baker is primed to become a cornerstone of the Longhorns’ offensive line and contribute to the team’s continued success.

Baker becomes the 18th commit in Steve Sarkisian’s 2024 Recruiting Class and joins Daniel Cruz and Nate Kibble as offensive line commits.
