Texas baseball checks in at #16 in D1baseball preseason top 25

Texas baseball is officially a month away from kicking off the 2024 campaign. The Longhorns return a solid core from the 2023 squad that finished just short of the College World Series. D1baseball.com released their preseason top 25 Tuesday morning with Texas checking in at #16.

Texas is one of four Big 12 teams who are ranked, joining TCU, Texas Tech and Kansas State. The Longhorns lineup will be led by returnees Peyton Powell, Jack O’Dowd, Porter Brown, Jared Thomas and Jalin Flores. Freshman OF Will Gasparino, one of the highest-rated HS players ever to make it to campus, will likely factor in from Day 1. The pitching staff boasts one of the better 1-2 punches in the country with Lebarron Johnson Jr. and Tanner Witt.

The Longhorns will open the season with 3 games at home against San Diego beginning February 16th.
