This Wednesday, athletes will be signing their National Letters of Intent, declaring the schools that they will be attending. Consequently, college football programs throughout the country have been engrossed in recruiting. Of course, the Longhorns are one of those programs.
However, the Longhorns have also been an active participant in the transfer portal as well.
Longhorns Recruiting Notes:
Transfers:
Ray Thornton (LSU):
On the 20th of January, the Longhorns announced that Ray Thornton would be joining the team. At LSU, Thornton appeared in 41 games and combined for 45 tackles. Out of high school, Thornton was rated as a four-star prospect and graduated from Killeen Shoemaker in 2016. As a result, Thornton will be returning to the great state of Texas.
Ovie Oghoufo (Notre Dame):
Last Tuesday, Ovie Oghoufo announced that he would be transferring to the University of Texas. Earlier in the week, our Aaron Carrera wrote about the transfer.
Commitment:
Bert Auburn (Flower Mound):
On Sunday, Bert Auburn announced his commitment to the Longhorns. Furthermore, Auburn, a class of 2021 kicker, will arrive on campus as a preferred walk-on. According to Chris Sailer Kicking, Auburn is the tenth ranked kicker in the class of 2021. Additionally, Auburn exhibits great leg strength as he routinely knocks down 65-yard field goals in practice.
Moving the Needle:
David Abiara (Mansfield Legacy):
Last November, Abiara de-committed from Notre Dame. Now, just a couple of days before signing day, Abiara has had multiple 247Sports crystal ball picks in favor of Texas. So, the four-star defensive end will be one to watch on Wednesday.
