The six-seed Texas Longhorns open up Big 12 Tournament play against the third seed Kansas Jayhawks on Thursday evening at the Sprint Center in Kansas City Missouri.  The Longhorns, currently holding a 16-15 overall record, will face a Kansas team that sits third in the Big 12 standings and boasts a 23-8 overall record.  Both teams have struggled down the stretch to end the season, with Texas dropping four of its last five contests, and Kansas finishing 3-2 over their last five games.

The Longhorns have made an NCAA Tournament appearance 18 times over the last 20 years, but are just 1-7 against the Jayhawks under Shaka Smart .  Texas split with Kansas in the regular season this year, with each team winning on its home court.
