Texas Longhorns left-hander Dylan Volantis was named a consensus All-American after earning first-team honors from D1Baseball on Thursday afternoon.
Volantis also received first-team recognition from ABCA/Rawlings, Baseball America, and the NCBWA.
As the only freshman on the top team, Volantis achieved a 4-1 record with a 1.94 ERA and 12 saves over 51 innings.
In league play, the 6-foot-6, 212-pound pitcher led all pitchers in ERA (1.59), WHIP (0.85), opponent batting average (.160), and saves.
Volantis’ 11 saves in conference play set a new record for SEC freshmen, breaking a 22-year-old mark held by Ole Miss’ Steven Head.
Named NCBWA Freshman Pitcher of the Year and SEC Freshman Pitcher of the Year, Volantis finished tied for 10th nationally in saves.
