Rematch: Texas Women’s Basketball to face UCLA again, this time with high stakes in Final Four

It was 1987 the last time the Texas Women’s Basketball team had consecutive Final Four appearances.  Tonight under the leadership of beloved Coach Vic Schaefer, the Longhorns will face UCLA in Phoneix at 8:30PM CST on ESPN.  Similarly, UCLA is marking back-to-back appearances in the Final Four but this is a first for the history of their program.

The semi-final represents a rematch for the two No. 1 seeds who played November 26th with the Longhorns defeating the Bruins, 76-65, in the Players Era Championship Tournament in Las Vegas. The match marked UCLA’s (35-1) only loss of their season. Texas enters as a 35-3 team, riding momentum on decisive victories throughout the tournament.  The winner will advance to the National Championship to play the winner of South Carolina and UConn.
