The annual Texas Bash is a crucial event on the Longhorns’ recruiting calendar, where they host top prospects and underclassmen to solidify commitments and initiate new relationships. This year’s Bash is particularly significant as Texas looks to close the deal on several high-priority recruits and bolster their future roster with emerging talent.
Among the key targets for the Longhorns is Jonah Williams, a top-ten nationally ranked safety who has elite speed, he is a sure tackler and he natural ballhawk instincts that led to three pick-sixes last season. At 6’3″ and 205 pounds, Williams is a game-changer on defense, and his visit to Texas indicates the Longhorns have gained significant traction in his recruitment against strong competition from Oregon, LSU, USC, and Texas A&M. Another crucial target is Michael Terry, the top athlete in the 2025 class, capable of excelling at wide receiver, linebacker, or safety. Terry’s versatility and skill set make him a highly attractive prospect, with Texas and Oregon currently leading the hunt for his commitment.
In addition to these top-tier recruits, the Longhorns are focusing on several standout underclassmen. Javian Osborne, one of the top-ranked running backs in the 2026 class, has been at the top of their list of recruits and is the top running back prospect on their board. He is a powerful runner with elite speed. Osborne rushed for an impressive 2,231 yards and 41 touchdowns last season. Another key underclassman is John Turntine III from North Crowley High School, a formidable offensive lineman in the 2026 class. At 6’4″ and 305 pounds, Turntine is strong and physical at the point of attack, with excellent short-area quickness, and his upcoming fourth trip to Austin this year shows that he is a high priority for Texas.
The Bash will see the attendance of several promising 2027 prospects. Landen Williams-Callis is an explosive runner who is shifty in space, effective between the tackles, and possesses the speed to make big plays. As a freshman, he rushed for 1,944 yards and 23 touchdowns. Williams-Callis is an elite track athlete. He ran 10.5 in the 100M this past season at Randle High School. Another standout is Amari Vickerson from Cy Ranch, who received a Texas offer after impressing at the elite camp on June 1st. Vickerson is known for his quick first step, nimble feet, and strength at the point of attack, making him a sought-after recruit with offers from Nebraska, Oklahoma, Alabama, Texas A&M, and LSU. Khyren Haywood from Denton Guyer is another key target for the Longhorns. He has been steadily climbing the recruiting ranks this offseason. He has powerful, violent hands, with a quick first step and he has the ability to reach the ball carrier swiftly. Haywood’s standout performance at the elite camp in June earned him an offer from Texas. He also picked up offers from Syracuse, LSU, and Texas A&M this offseason.
The Texas Bash provides the Longhorns with a prime opportunity to secure commitments from these top prospects and lay the groundwork for their future recruiting classes, aiming to build a formidable team capable of competing at the highest levels.
