As the 2024 Paris Olympics Opening Ceremony kicks off, 30 current or former Texas Longhorn athletes will march with their respective countrymen to participate in the world games.  The University of Texas is also represented by seven coaches with ties to the athletic program. The record-breaking Longhorn contingency will compete across 12 different programs and represent 16 different countries – landing the University among an elite group of NCAA Division I athletic programs such as Stanford, UCLA and USC, who have sent historic numbers of athletes to the Olympic games.

Fourteen Longhorn athletes and three coaches will represent Team USA: Track and Field boasts two-time Olympic gold medalist Ryan Crouser (shot put) and second-time Olympian Tara Davis-Woodhall (long jump). Three-time Olympic gold medalist Kevin Durant will play for the men’s basketball team.  Second-time Olympian Alison Gibson (women’s 3-meter springboard diving), 2020 gold medalist Chiaka Ogbogu (women’s indoor volleyball), world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler (men’s golf) and Rowing’s duo of Kaitlin Knifton (women’s four) and Daisy Mazzio-Manson (women’s four) will also represent Team USA in their respective sports.
