This was a team Texas was supposed to beat and they did. Only it took a two out walk-off single in the bottom of the 12th by Tim Maitland to do so. The Longhorns were reeling from back to back losses to Tennessee and Arkansas at the Houston College Classic, desperately needing to right the ship.  It was a low scoring affair that saw each team with only 5 hits throughout the entire game. The Patriots scored their lone run of the game in the first inning and Texas answered in the second inning after Tim Maitland was hit by a pitch, which drove in a run.   Maitland’s 2 RBI’s proved to be just enough to beat Dallas Baptist which is now 6-6 on the season. The Longhorns used a total of 6 pitchers in the game but it was ultimately Corey Knebel who recorded the win for the Longhorns. Texas (5-7) begins a 3 game series with Loyola Marymount on Friday. A sweep of the Lions would give Texas a winning record.
