After losing on day two of the regionals, the Texas Longhorns had to win 3 straight games to advance to the Super Regionals which begin on Friday. The Horns draw Arizona State, a school that has a storied baseball program, much like the University of Texas.  The Longhorns have had a slew of players taken in the MLB Draft which began yesterday, including Taylor Jungmann who went 12th overall to the Milwaukee Brewers. Arizona State is waiting on an appeals ruling which is essentially the only reason the Sun Devils are involved in post season play. Accused of NCAA violations and banned from 2011 post-season play, ASU filed an appeal and is waiting on the NCAA to render a judgment. Until then, the Sun Devils are playing baseball. GOOD BASEBALL, as evidenced by their cruising through the Tempe, Arizona Regional with a 3-0 record. Â
It should be an exciting time in Austin on Friday and Saturday (and Sunday if necessary). Texas is looking to get tback to the College World Series, where they have made 33 appearances, amassed 82 wins and won 6 national championships. The Super Regional games will be televised on ESPN and ESPN2. Hook ’em.
