The Texas Longhorns added another major piece to their 2027 recruiting class with a commitment from South Oak Cliff offensive lineman Brian Swanson, one of the premier offensive line prospects in the state of Texas.
At 6-foot-6, 305 pounds, Swanson has emerged as one of the top trench players in the 2027 cycle. According to 247Sports, he is ranked as the No. 18 offensive tackle in the nation and the No. 19 overall prospect in Texas. His commitment gives Texas one of the cornerstone pieces of its 2027 recruiting class and continues the Longhorns’ momentum in recruiting elite in-state talent. Swanson picked the Longhorns over LSU, Oklahoma and SMU.
Swanson has been a vital component of South Oak Cliff’s success over the past several seasons, helping the Golden Bears make deep playoff runs and capture several state championships. Playing in one of Texas’ premier programs has prepared him for high-level competition, and his experience in big games is evident whenever he steps onto the field.
A physically imposing prospect, Swanson plays with the type of toughness and edge college coaches covet. He consistently looks to finish blocks and brings a nasty streak to the offensive line. His combination of power, size, and physicality allows him to control defenders at the point of attack and create running lanes.
What separates Swanson from many linemen is his athleticism. Despite weighing 305 pounds, he possesses excellent feet, moves well in space, and shows the agility necessary to reach defenders at the second level. His ability to pull, redirect, and operate in space makes him an ideal fit for Texas’ offensive scheme.
Swanson also displays strong balance and body control in pass protection. He has the length and foot quickness to handle edge rushers while continuing to develop the technical aspects of his game. As his skill set continues to mature, he projects as a player with significant upside at the collegiate level.
Texas views Swanson as a critical addition to its offensive line recruiting efforts and a prospect capable of developing into a future starter in Austin. His championship pedigree, physical playing style, and athletic traits make him one of the most important commitments in the Longhorns’ 2027 class.
The Longhorns have built their recent success around strong offensive line play, and Swanson appears poised to continue that tradition. With his size, toughness, athleticism, and long-term potential, the South Oak Cliff standout could become a major contributor for Texas in the years ahead and a key piece of the program’s future in the SEC.
