College Station, TX —
The fifth ranked Texas Baseball team traveled to College Station on Tuesday, rekindling their rivalry on the diamond with the Texas A&M Aggies. It was a slow night at the plate for both teams, but in the end it was the Aggies that claimed victory, besting the Longhorns 2-0 in front of a home crowd at Blue Bell Park.
Texas starting pitcher Pete Hansen took the loss, giving up one earned run and four hits. Hansen lasted 5 1/3 innings before Tanner Witt relieved him and got the Longhorns out of a jam to keep the score at 1-0.
Witt gave up a solo home run in the 7th to Mike Hoener, sealing a 2-0 Texas A&M victory.
The Longhorns mustered up just four hits in the game, with two of those hits coming from Silas Ardoin. Zack Zubia and Mitchell Daly each had one hit for Texas.
Nathan Dettmer notched the win for the Aggies and Chandler Jozwiak was credited with the save.
Up next: Texas will head to Lawrence, Kansas to play a three-game series against the Jayhawks beginning on Thursday.
