The 9th ranked Texas Longhorns beat Atlantic Sun Conference member Lipscomb 106-61 to improve to 9-1 overall, staying perfect (6-0) at the Frank Erwin Center. The Bisons never held a lead the game and all 13 players that saw the court tonight for Texas scored points.
The night belonged to true freshman Myles Turner, who scored a career high 26 points, narrowly missing his second double-double of the season. Turner grabbed 9 rebounds and had 6 blocks in the win over the Bisons. It was also a career night for Demarcus Holland, who had 8 assists in the win.
Senior forward Jonathan Holmes provided solid play again for Texas, scoring 17 points and pulling in 6 rebounds, while freshman Jordan Barnett played the best game of his young career as a Longhorn. Barnett scored 11 points, including shooting 3-3 from 3-point range.
Texas shot 53.8% from the field and Lipscomb was limited to shooting just 30.6% s from the field. The Longhorns also out-rebounded the Bisons 55-28.
Senior Malcolm Smith led Lipscomb in scoring with 17 points and Josh Smith contributed 13 points in the loss for the Bisons, who fell to 4-6 on the season.
Up next for the Longhorns is Long Beach State University (5-6) on Saturday in Austin.
