Following the commitment of heralded defensive lineman Kasi Currie yesterday, Texas added another piece to its 2027 recruiting class on Friday with the commitment of EDGE rusher Jabarrius Garror, a highly regarded prospect out of Alabama.
The four-star prospect from Vigor High School had been committed to the Alabama Crimson Tide for nearly two years before decommitting in mid-March of this year. He held offers from more than 30 programs including Ohio State, Miami, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Michigan, Georgia, Florida, Florida State and others.
Garror, ranked as the No. 4 overall player in Alabama, the No. 12 EDGE in the nation and the No. 110 overall prospect in the 247Sports Composite Rankings, becomes the 14th pledge in Steve Sarkisian’s 2027 class. His decision continues a strong recruiting push in the Southeast for the Longhorns, who have made consistent inroads into talent-rich regions outside the state.
At 6-foot-3 and 215 pounds, Garror brings a blend of length, explosiveness and positional versatility off the edge. He has shown the ability to disrupt opposing backfields with his first-step quickness while also possessing the frame to develop into a more complete, every-down defender at the next level.
Texas’ defensive staff has prioritized pass-rushing depth and athleticism in recent cycles, and Garror fits that mold. His upside as a developmental edge player aligns with the Longhorns’ emphasis on building a defensive front capable of dominating in the SEC.
Garror’s commitment also reflects the continued momentum of Texas on the recruiting trail under Sarkisian. With 14 commitments now secured in the 2027 cycle, the Longhorns are assembling a class that balances in-state priorities with national reach.
As the class continues to take shape, Garror projects as a foundational defensive piece with the tools to grow into a disruptive presence in Austin.
