As originally reported by Chip Brown of Orangebloods.com two weeks ago, multiple outlets are now reporting Texas Athletic Director DeLoss Dodds will announce his retirement tomorrow.
Dodds will remain in his position until August 31, 2014, and continue on in a consultant role through 2015, completing his contract with Texas. Dodds was to announce his retirement today, but delayed due to the unfortunate passing of former Longhorns QB James Street. Â In our wrap up of the Mack Brown press conference today, I noted things seemed off. We know why now.
As reported, University of Texas President Bill Powers will lead the search for a new AD, one he would like to have completed by December 1st. We will have continuing coverage through the fall on this situation, but for Texas fans long begging for change at the top of the floundering men’s sports programs, a new day may be close to dawning.
In a final note, the name of West Virginia Athletic Director Oliver Luck was brought up. Just something to keep in mind.
