Interesting news out of Austin tonight, as WR Ricky Seals-Jones, the #1 WR prospect in the nation for the 2013 class, confirms he has decommitted from the University of Texas. Seals-Jones, a 6-5 WR who could pursue major D1 offers in both Football and Basketball, is now looking at Texas, LSU, Texas A&M, and Baylor. Seals-Jones is well known to want to play both sports at the school he ultimately commits to, and this may have something to do with the decommittment.
Yesterday it was announced Fr OL Camhron Hughes, a guy who was badly needed for offensive line depth, tore the ACL in his right knee playing pickup basketball and will miss the 2012 Football season. Oddly, twenty four hours later, without any outside signs of waivering, Seals-Jones turned on his commitment.
Sources claim Texas is more than willing to allow RSJ to play both sports, but the timing of everything is extremely odd. This still looks like a race between Texas and LSU, but in any event it is to be expected to happen with players of this caliber from time to time.
