News and Notes From Longhorns First Scrimmage

The Texas Longhorns had their first scrimmage over the weekend, offering a crucial opportunity for players on the two-deep chart to showcase their readiness for the upcoming season. This scrimmage also provided the coaching staff with a chance to identify who they can rely on as the season approaches.

The defense set the tone early during the live tackling period, particularly with the defensive line dominating the line of scrimmage. Alfred Collins and Vernon Broughton started with the first team and held their own by stuffing the running game. Aaron Bryant and true freshman Alex January contributed with the second team. Louisville transfer Jermayne Lole made his presence felt inside, disrupting the offense’s rhythm.
