Willis (TX) standout Jermaine Bishop Jr., one of the top playmakers in the 2026 class nationally, has announced his commitment to the Texas Longhorns. The 6-foot, 155-pound athlete chose Texas over Texas A&M and Houston, giving Steve Sarkisian and his staff a major in-state win.
Ranked the No. 21 overall prospect in Texas, the No. 5 athlete nationally, and No. 159 in the Rivals250, Bishop Jr. has been a top priority for the Longhorns. He attended Junior Day in Austin and was present for multiple spring practices last month.
A dynamic two-way talent, Bishop Jr. excels as a wide receiver, defensive back, and return specialist. On offense, he’s explosive with elite speed, twitch, and agility, boasting great hands, smooth separation at the second level, and big-play ability after the catch. He racked up 1,565 receiving yards, 18 touchdowns, and averaged 18.9 yards per reception in a dominant season in 2024.
Defensively, he’s versatile enough to play either cornerback or safety, showing great ball skills, closing speed, and the ability to attack the ball at the catch point. His 2024 stat line also included 3 interceptions, 2 forced fumbles, and a kick return touchdown.
With Bishop Jr. in the fold, Texas lands one of the most electric and productive athletes in the nation, a true difference-maker in the 2026 class.
