Kickoff times and network designations for four games have been announced, including home games against San Jose State, UTEP, and Sam Houston, as well as the Allstate Red River Rivalry against Oklahoma in Dallas. Additionally, the kickoff time for the season opener at Ohio State and the network designation for the Cotton Holdings Lone Star Showdown against Texas A&M in Austin have been confirmed.
The season opener at Ohio State is scheduled for 11 a.m. CT/12 p.m. ET on Saturday, Aug. 30, and will be broadcast on FOX. This will be the fifth meeting between the teams, with the series tied at 2-2 following last year’s win by the Buckeyes in the CFP Semifinals at the Cotton Bowl Classic. Texas previously defeated Ohio State in the Fiesta Bowl on Jan. 5, 2009. The first contest in Columbus saw UT win 25-22 in 2005, followed by a Buckeyes victory in Austin the next year.
Texas’ Week 2 home opener against San Jose State, presented by St. David’s HealthCare, will kick off at 11 a.m. CT on Saturday, Sept. 6, and air on either ABC or ESPN. This will be the second meeting between the teams, with Texas winning the first encounter 56-0 at home in 2017. It’s also the third consecutive season Texas faces a Mountain West Conference opponent.
The Longhorns’ Week 3 home game against UTEP, presented by South Texas Ford Dealers, is set for 3:15 p.m. CT on Saturday, Sept. 13, and will be broadcast on SEC Network. UTEP is one of three in-state programs Texas will face in 2025, along with Sam Houston and Texas A&M. Texas leads the series against UTEP 6-0, including a 5-0 record at home. The teams last met in 2020, with Texas winning 59-3.
In Week 4, Texas will host Sam Houston, presented by Truist, at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium at 7 p.m. CT on Saturday, Sept. 20. The game will be available on ESPN+/SEC Network+. This will be the second meeting between the Longhorns and the Bearkats, with Texas winning the first encounter 56-3 in Austin in 2006.
The Allstate Red River Rivalry against Oklahoma will take place at 2:30 p.m. CT on Saturday, Oct. 11, at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, and will be broadcast on either ABC or ESPN. This will be the 121st meeting between the Longhorns and Sooners, with Texas holding a 64-51-5 advantage. The series began in 1900 and has been played in Dallas since 1912, with the State Fair hosting the game since 1929. Last season, Texas defeated Oklahoma 34-3.
The Cotton Holdings Lone Star Showdown against Texas A&M is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 28, at 6:30 p.m., and will air on ABC. This Thanksgiving weekend tradition will be played on the Friday of the holiday weekend for the first time since 2007. The rivalry was renewed last season, with the game played on Saturday, but from 2008-11, it was held on Thanksgiving Day. Prior to 2008, the game was played on the Friday of Thanksgiving from 1996-2007.
