An outstanding post by Horn Sports member “hornrush”. I thought this needed to be shared with the masses, and yes… I am tired.

I am a long-time family member of Longhorn nation with my family roots going all the way back to the 40’s. Old enough to know where the moniker and chant “pooooor okies” came from (and no, it didn’t start with Ags), was sung to sleep with the Eyes of Texas and woken with Texas Fight. My dad knew DKR and worked for LBJ and I’ve long known what those certain Board of Regent members (now dead and burning in hell hopefully) did to coach Royal and to the program that sent us to wander in the wilderness. I am also grateful to Mack Brown for bringing the program back to prominence and he deserves a statue for that alone.

But right now, I’m just plain tired.

I’m tired of watching our Longhorn football team settle…settle for mediocrity. Urban Meyer, Bob Stoops, Nick Saban, Lovie Smith, Pete Carroll, Jimbo Fisher and Jim Harbaugh can turn programs around in 1, 2 and 3 years time and we, in our 4th of a rebuild, are told that “we’re close” and then having to settle for this.

I’m tired of being lied to about our team and our recruiting.

I’m tired of being told I’m a bad fan for wanting change and expecting to win championships.

I’m tired of hearing that Mack Brown had X-amount of seasons with at least 10 wins when the only numbers I care about are two. TWO conference championships in his 30+ year career.

I’m tired of playing second fiddle to okies. For the longest time it was Stoops and the land okies and now it’s Gundy and the sand okies.

I’m tired of NOT having a defense we can be proud of. Once in the last 16 years we have had a top 10 defense. This used to be the norm at UT folks.

I’m tired of NOT having a QB who can come off the bench and lead his team to wins. Duke Carlisle taking over for Tommy Wade. James Street taking over for Bill Bradley. Rick McIvor taking over for Mark McBath and Ted Constanzo. Robert Brewer taking over for McIvor. Peter Gardere taking over for Matt Murdock, Major Applewhite for Richard Walton and Vince Young for Chance Mock.

Noodle-arm for Ash?

I’m tired of our OLine getting pushed around and then celebrated over by EVERYONE. After 4 years, you’d think that wouldn’t happen.

I’m tired of our basketball team sucking.

I’m tired of our baseball team sucking.

I’m tired of losing.

I’m tired of hearing that it will change and it doesn’t.

I’m tired of being told to have patience. We’ve been waiting long enough!

I’m tired of being able to watch Syracuse, Boston College, Ohio State, Florida, Alabama, LSU, USC, Oregon, Nebraska and on and on. . . each and every DAMN week but I can only see my Longhorns perhaps 5-6 times a year because of that stinking Longhorn Network.

I’m tired of being told that it’s not Dodds or ESPNs fault when it clearly is.

I’m tired of being able to see my Longhorns almost each and every week BEFORE that damn LHN and now I can’t even listen to a radio broadcast of the game without spending money.

And most of all. I’m tired of feeling this bad about my team and my school. MY TEXAS LONGHORNS! DAMMIT!

Don’t ever let anyone, here or on any other board, forum and bar tell any of you that championships don’t matter. Championships do matter and it’s about time we started to believe that again.

It’s time to fix this and fix it now. Everyone knows what needs to be done. Fish or cut bait, shit or get off the pot but it’s time.

I don’t want to EVER AGAIN feel this bad. . . this tired about my Longhorns.

How about you?

Hook’em!
