It was a banner night for the Texas Longhorns, with three standout players being selected in the first round of the NFL Draft, highlighting the program’s recent dominance and development under the spotlight.

OT Kelvin Banks Jr. was the first Longhorn off the board, going No. 9 overall to the New Orleans Saints. The 6-foot-5, 315-pound tackle was a three-time All-American and former five-star prospect, starting 42 games over three seasons at Texas. Banks is a dominant force at the point of attack with elite footwork, strength, quickness, and power, everything the Saints were looking for to anchor their offensive line.

At No. 20 overall, the Denver Broncos selected defensive back Jahdae Barron, the reigning Jim Thorpe Award winner, given to the nation’s top defensive back. A versatile, instinctive playmaker, Barron ran a 4.39 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine and brings the ability to line up at cornerback, nickel, or safety. His ball skills, mechanics, and versatility make him a strong addition to Denver’s secondary.

Later in the round, with the No. 23 pick, the Green Bay Packers grabbed explosive wide receiver Matthew Golden, fresh off a breakout season. Golden hauled in 58 catches for 987 yards and 9 touchdowns, averaging over 17 yards per reception and playing a pivotal role in Texas’ run to the SEC Championship Game. Known for his speed, reliable hands, and yards-after-catch ability, Golden brings a dynamic element to Green Bay’s passing attack.
