The Texas Longhorns remain one of the most closely watched programs in college football. With strong recruiting classes and consistent player development under Steve Sarkisian, the roster continues to draw attention from scouts, analysts, and fans across the country. Each season, several Longhorns begin to emerge as potential NFL prospects.

That national interest extends beyond traditional sports media. Draft discussions, player projections, and performance trends are followed across many football platforms throughout the United States. Coverage of emerging prospects and NFL storylines is also widely discussed on sites such as Georgia online sportsbooks, which deliver top NFL coverage with sharp odds and expert insights for NFL fans.

With another season in Austin approaching, a new group of Texas players is beginning to generate early attention as potential names to watch for the 2027 NFL Draft.

Colin Simmons: Texas’ Most Disruptive Defensive Weapon

Edge rusher Colin Simmons enters the season as one of the most recognizable defensive prospects in college football. His production and physical traits place him firmly on the radar of NFL scouts.

Simmons followed a nine-sack freshman campaign with an even stronger performance, recording 12 sacks while leading the Southeastern Conference. That breakout season earned him second-team All-American recognition and solidified his status as a premier pass rusher.

His game revolves around explosiveness and relentless pressure. Simmons consistently wins with a quick first step, forcing tackles into recovery mode immediately after the snap. His active hands and high motor allow him to create disruption even when initial rush attempts stall.

Edge defenders with Simmons’ combination of burst, energy, and pass-rush production remain highly valued in the NFL. Another dominant season could position him as one of the top defensive prospects available.

Trevor Goosby: Blindside Protector With NFL Size

Left tackle Trevor Goosby represents one of the most important pieces of the Texas offense. His return to Austin provides stability on the offensive line while also giving him another opportunity to refine his draft profile.

Goosby stands at 6-foot-7 and roughly 312 pounds, offering the frame NFL teams prefer for blindside protection. His length allows him to control pass rushers before they reach the pocket, an essential trait for tackles protecting franchise quarterbacks.

Scouting reports highlight several strengths in his technique. Goosby’s explosive kickstep allows him to gain early leverage against edge defenders, while his ability to change direction helps him recover against speed rushers.

His versatility and movement skills also stand out on film. Continued development in run blocking and hand placement could elevate Goosby to serious consideration for teams seeking long-term offensive line solutions.

Ryan Wingo: Explosive Receiver With Vertical Threat Ability

Wide receiver Ryan Wingo brings a dynamic element to the Texas passing attack. His size and acceleration create matchup problems for opposing defenses, especially when the ball reaches him in space.

At 6-foot-2, Wingo combines length with open-field speed. That physical profile allows him to operate effectively on vertical routes while remaining dangerous after the catch.

Last season, Wingo led the team with 54 receptions while averaging 15.4 yards per catch. His ability to generate explosive plays showed up repeatedly, including four touchdown receptions of 29 yards or longer.

Receivers capable of stretching the field and generating yards after contact remain highly attractive to NFL teams. If Wingo continues producing at a similar level, his combination of size and speed could draw significant attention from scouts.

Rasheem Biles: Versatile Linebacker With Playmaking Range

Linebacker Rasheem Biles arrives at Texas after a productive career with the Pittsburgh Panthers. His experience and tackling ability immediately add physicality to the Longhorn defense.

During the 2025 season, Biles recorded over 100 tackles and led the ACC in tackles for loss per game. Those numbers reflect a defender who consistently identifies plays quickly and attacks the backfield.

Although slightly undersized compared with traditional NFL linebackers, Biles compensates with range and athleticism. His lateral movement allows him to track plays sideline to sideline, while his instincts help him anticipate running lanes.

Defensive coordinator Will Muschamp values linebackers who can contribute in multiple defensive situations. Biles fits that mold, offering run defense, pursuit speed, and disruptive potential in passing situations. A productive season within Texas’s defensive system could significantly strengthen his draft profile.

Texas’ Next Wave Of NFL Talent

The Longhorn roster contains multiple players capable of drawing serious NFL attention. Simmons provides elite pass-rush ability, Goosby anchors the offensive line with prototypical tackle size, Wingo stretches defenses as a vertical receiving threat, and Biles brings proven tackling production.

Programs that consistently compete at the national level usually maintain strong NFL pipelines. Texas appears positioned to continue that trend, with several players already demonstrating the physical tools and on-field production professional scouts look for.
