The Texas Longhorns have landed a major piece for their 2026 recruiting class with the commitment of 4-star defensive lineman Vodney Cleveland, one of the most disruptive interior defenders in the country.
Cleveland, a 6-foot-4, 308-pound force from Parker High School in Birmingham, Alabama is rated the No. 5 defensive tackle nationally and the No. 10 overall player in the state of Alabama by Rivals.com. He chose Texas over a loaded list of finalists that included Auburn, Georgia, Alabama, Miami, and North Carolina.
The commitment comes on the heels of his official visit to Austin on June 13, where the Longhorns clearly made a strong impression.
Cleveland has elite first-step quickness, violent hands, and a high motor that makes him a constant problem in the trenches. Despite his size, he moves with rare explosiveness, consistently collapsing pockets and disrupting run lanes. A true space-eater with pass-rush upside, Cleveland brings both power and agility to the defensive front, a combination that Texas coaches were eager to add.
His commitment gives Texas a cornerstone on the defensive line for the future and a statement win on the recruiting trail against some of college football’s elite.
With Cleveland on board, the Longhorns continue to build a formidable defensive identity and they’re not done yet.
