After the Longhorns early in the week released news that player’s Jaylon Bond and Sheldon McClellan were transferring, the men’s basketball program needed some good news.
After Longhorn’s Prince Ibeh and Demarcus Holland tweeted the news of a new commit, they got some.
4-Star combo guard Kendal Yancy-Harris, of Richardson Berkner, committed to Rick Barnes and the Texas program today on his official visit to Austin today, according to Yancy-Harris Twitter account. He is the third commitment of the 2013 class for Texas.
Yancy-Harris committed to Southern Cal last August, and when they made a coaching change, so did Harris. And with current UT point guard, Myck Kabongo, likely leaving for the NBA next month, and guard McClellan leaving, it gives Harris a definite shot at playing time next winter.
Yancy-Harris boasts over 30 offers, including Gonzaga, Oklahoma State, and Alabama. He averaged 12 points, seven assists, and six rebounds per game as a senior for the state-semifinalist Berkner (33-6).
Yancy-Harris joins guards Isaiah Taylor (Houston), and Demarcus Croaker (Orlando, FL) in the class of 2013.
