Over the the last seven days there have been two commitments, another scholarship offer to a Florida prospect, and an offer that was-but-wasn’t-then-finally-was. Here’s a review:
Let’s start with the commitments…
Rick Barnes got a good one when 2015 Kerwin Roach gave a verbal commitment to Texas. Roach, out of North Shore, is a combo guard with an excellent first step that plays both ends of the court. He’ll be a contributor from the first day he steps on campus.
Ridge Point 2015 outside linebacker Cameron Townsend gave his verbal to Texas this past Sunday. Townsend, the second Longhorn linebacker commit in the 2015 class (Breckyn Hager) has offers from two other Big 12 schools, but Texas has been considered his favorite for a while. He is expected to take his official visit to Texas on November 8th.
Scholarship offers – two 2016’s were offered over the week:
Florida (Viera) wide receiver Tre Nixon picked up an offer from Charlie Strong on the 28th of October. Nixon is listed at 6-0, 160. Texas has extended five offers total to the 2016 wide receiver class – Collin Johnson, Reggie Hemphill-Mapps, Mykel Jones and Devin Dunveray are the other four. Johnson and Hemphil-Mapps have already given their verbals to Texas.
What a wild week it was for Gilmer 2016 ATH Demarco Boyd. Texas officially offered on Thursday the 24th. Demarco, the younger brother of Kris Boyd, plays linebacker and running back for Gilmer. Still a ways to go but there really isn’t a for sure spot that the younger Boyd would play at the next level. Currently at 5-10, 218 Boyd has room to grow and odds are he will.
