Welcome to another edition of The Outsiders Edge, where this week we tackle Tim Tebow, recruiting, and much more. Let’s get to it folks.
Commitment Bonanza: Been quite a roll for the Longhorns the last two weeks, picking up the non binding verbal pledges of several stud athletes at multiple positions. The two biggest ones to me are Tristan Teuhema, the mammoth offensive tackle, and 6-5 Marble Falls HS WR Garrett Gray. Whether he grows into a TE or stays at WR, this young man is a special player and the kind of target Texas has not had in a few years.
Expectations for 2013: I’ve seen everything from “National Championship†to “6-6†when fans are talking about what this year brings for the Longhorns. General consensus of everyone outside David Pollock is a 10 win season and a nice bowl. I am personally in the camp of win the games up to Oklahoma, then let’s see what Mack does in Dallas before I get too excited about what is to come. David Ash is turning into a fine quarterback,, but he still needs to prove he can lead Texas to one of the final BCS games. Oklahoma is his proving ground. So, lets get it all out of the way now folks. Where do you think the season goes?
Tebow is a Patriot: The beat just keeps going on for this guy doesn’t it? No worries here about him fracturing the locker room, this is Brady’s world and Tebow is just being a tackling dummy in it. While I do not believe the rumors of this being a “courtesy†signing, I’m assuming Belichek has a role for Timmy of some kind. He’s not beating out Ryan Mallet for the backup job.
New York Jets: Still suck
Twidiot: Loved the Oregon guy on Twitter trying to insinuate Texas can’t develop talent of any kind while talking to a DB prospect. Duane Akina, DBU, 11 DB’s in the league, and several Super Bowl rings all laugh at you. Best thing Oregon has sent to the NFL lately is Chip Kelly, just ahead of that NCAA smack down coming.
Georgetown Boosters: Got the liberals in Austin awfully upset for raising money by gun raffles. What moron thinks they’d bring a gun to the school, then give it to a 15 year old if he had the winning ticket. Even when presented with the facts, including having to take a voucher to the store and pass the background checks to get the weapon, they still want to complain. Grow up hipsters, this is Texas, we own guns, love football, and will do anything for our kids. Get over it.
OU: Still Sucks
UTSA: Has two road games with Aggie signed for 2016 and 2019. A few BCS schools have signed on to play the new guys in C-USA, but only Aggie was kind enough to not give them a return game in the Alamodome. I hope to God little cousin goes over there, shocks little brother, and takes their money.
David Stern: As I write this, the Spurs are leading the Heat in the 3rd quarter. Rest assured if the Spurs go on to win this game, Dave’s good squad is going to execute one of Danny Crawford’s family members.
Boxing: Anyone care anymore? Honestly?
Closing Announcement: Going to be doing a few more things to help out the kids who are working their tails off and not getting the offers or the coverage from the big sites. Our first story will be about a D/FW area QB trying to overcome a new offense and other factors to get the FBS offer he craves. Hard working kids deserve all the help we can give them.
Until next time……………………Hook Em!
