For the first time since 2013, Texas will be returning to San Antonio to play in the Alamo Bowl. The Longhorns, who finished the regular season at 7-5, will face Utah out of the PAC 12. The Utes lost in the PAC 12 championship game Friday evening to Oregon, dropping their record to 11-2 on the year and taking themselves out of contention of the College Football Playoff.
Utah was ranked 11th in the final CFP rankings released earlier today and is carried by one of the top defenses in the country. Offensively, RB Zach Moss has over 1,300 yards rushing and has rushed for 15 touchdowns on the season.
Texas will look to cap off an up and down season with a victory. The Longhorns dropped 2 out of their final 3 regular season games, forcing several coaching changes heading into the 2020 season. Defensive Coordinator Todd Orlando was fired following the regular season finale against Texas Tech, while Offensive Coordinator Tim Beck will no longer serve as a coordinator moving forward. In addition to changes at both coordinator spots, Tom Herman also fired WR coach Drew Mehringer and reassigned fellow WR coach Corby Meekins to an off-field role.
The Alamo Bowl will kick off on New Years Eve at 6:30 CST on ESPN.
