After finishing the regular season with a loss to Kansas State on Saturday, the Texas Longhorns (8-4) were selected to play the Oregon State Beavers (9-3) on December 29th in the Valero Alamo Bowl in San Antonio.
The Longhorns last played in the Alamo Bowl in 2006 against Kirk Ferentz and the Iowa Hawkeyes, overcoming an 11 point deficit to win 26-24. Texas quarterback Colt McCoy took home Offensive MVP honors and UT defensive back Aaron Ross was named Defensive MVP.

The Beavers finished 13th in the final BCS standings released on Sunday. Texas and Oregon State have played only two times before (1980 & 1987) with Texas winning both games.
