The 2023 College Football Season just ended, but it is never too early to start speculating on who the top dogs in college football will be, right? FOX analyst Joel Klatt released his Top 10 for next season and the Longhorns check in at No. 4 behind Georgia (1), Ohio State (2) and Oregon (3). Rounding out spots five through ten are Alabama (5), Ole Miss (6), Michigan (7), Utah (8), Notre Dame (9) and Penn State (10).
Texas finished their 2023 campaign with a 13-2 overall record and an appearance in the College Football Playoff. Steve Sarkisian returns junior quarterback Quinn Ewers and has bolstered the offense with a trio of talented wide receivers in Matthew Golden (Houston) Isaiah Bond (Alabama) and Silas Bolden (Oregon State). Defensively they have added former Clemson DB Andrew Mukuba, Alabam transfer linebacker Kendrick Blackshire and UTSA transfer EDGE Trey Moore. The Longhorns are likely not done filling needs with transfers from the portal.
Klatt is high on the Longhorns headed into next season, particularly because of Steve Sarkisian’s recruiting efforts.
“Sark got his new contract. He had one of the best seasons in college football. They only lose two games, they finish right up there in the Top 5 and this is a team that should be, based on where they have recruited over the last couple of years, should be right back in that position.”
Texas will travel to Ann Arbor in Week Two to face defending national champion Michigan and will host the Georgia Bulldogs on October 19th in Austin.
