Head coach Rodney Terry and the Texas Longhorns Basketball program enjoyed a productive Sunday as they added three much-needed players from the transfer portal to next season’s roster. The ‘Horns secured commitments from forward Jayson Kent and guard Julian Larry, both Indiana State transfers, as well as Arkansas guard Tramon Mark.
Kent, a 6-8, 205 lb. Oak Forest, Illinois native, has one season of college eligibility left and will spend it in Austin. He averaged 13.5 points and 8.1 rebounds per game this season, helping the Sycamores reach the NIT championship game where they lost to Seton Hall 79-77.
Kent’s Indiana State teammate Julian Larry will join him on the 40 Acres, bringing elite defense with him. Larry, a native of Frisco, Texas is 6-3 and weighs 185 lbs. and averaged 11 points and 4.8 assists per game last season. He was a two-time member of the Missouri Valley Conference All-Defensive Team.
6-6, 185 lb. Arkansas guard Tramon Mark will make his way back to his home state to join the Longhorns next season. The Dickinson native spent three seasons with Kelvin Sampson and the Houston Cougars before transferring to the Razorbacks. Mark led Arkansas in scoring and steals, averaging 16.2 points per game and 1.2 steals per game. He has one year of eligibility remaining.
