Just about every team that plays Texas does it if given the opportunity. Is it legal? Should it be? Is it disrespectful? What has become commonplace for opposing fans and players of the Longhorns was addressed today by Texas head coach Mack Brown:
It pisses me off everytime I see it and it makes me want to do things punsihable by jail time to the perpetrators but is it really THAT bad?   Geno Smith and every member of the Sooner football team performed the act without punishment this season. A question? What are the OU and West Virginia hand signs? For the latter it usually includes something resembling a middle finger, but you catch my drift. The most recognizable hand signal in the history of college football is filing a discrimination complaint. In the Texas Tech game Texas wide receiver Mike Davis was penalized 15 yards after catching a touchdown pass and emulating a “guns down” gesture. All I am asking for is a little parity when it comes to what is penalized and what is not. Many college football games have neen decided by less than 15 yards and Mack was right to bring the argument to the table. The referees need to “let it ride,” encompassing penalties for all perpetrators or “let it slide,” meaning “who cares who makes what sign.” Let’s keep the game classy and clean for the sportsmanship of all student-athletes involved.
