It does not look like Christian Scott will suit up in a Longhorn jersey – for at least the first few games of the season, perhaps the entire season. The Dallas Skyline standout was arrested somewhere near his apartment in Austin in the early afternoon and charged with misdemeanor assault with bodily injury. Scott was set to be an integral piece of the newly revamped Manny Diaz defense, which many think will be stronger and quicker than some of the defensive products Texas has put on the field in recent years. Mack Brown issued the following statement on Scott’s arrest:
The details of what the arrest was for are not clear, but it cannot be good. Scott is in his 5th year of eligibility and received his diploma last year which means the academics/football balance is skewed in favor of football.  It stings for Texas fans that we will be without Christian’s leadership and athleticism until this incident has been finalized. The team has already taken substantial losses at key positions and this will be yet another hole Mack and company will have to somehow fill.
