The chatter around the Aggies and the potential move to the SEC because of the Longhorn Network is becoming greater and greater, again. In fact, I think I can hear those horrible “whoop” sounds of joy all the way from College Station. Evidently Texas A&M has had enough of the attention that Texas and its imminent network are receiving and they plan to do something about it.   A&M’s leadership and regents mulled this over back in mid-July, remember, when the talk of airing high school games on the Longhorn Network was in full force. Not to mention last summer, when Texas considered a move to the PAC-10, A&M knocked on the SEC’s door. Since July, things have settled down a bit but Bill Byrne and the rest of the Aggie Nation have evidently had nightmares every night, ever since. Let your imagination run wild with what those nightmares are. Most likely some involve Bevo stampeding all over Kyle Field, Mack Brown reaching through the television to mesmerize potential blue chippers with his magic wand and Texas AD Deloss Dodds making snow butterflies in an 8 foot pile of million dollar bills on his bed while cackling uncontrollably. Whatever the case, looks like they are setting the stage to move to the SEC.
What will this mean? It will mean most likely that the Big 12 (or Big 12-2) will be no more. If the Aggies move, then the SEC would have to take a least one more team to even out the divisions. They could potentially take more. The discussion in media world is that Clemson would join the SEC, and so could Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. One thing is probable: If Texas A&M joins the SEC then the likelihood of Texas and Texas A&M matching up again any time soon is slim to none. Works for Texas. With a 75-37-5 record against A&M, Texas is licking its chops.  Heck, Longhorn Network or not, A&M SHOULD be running away from Texas because of this alone. Texas would most likely go independent and thrive. Other teams in the conference like Kansas State, Baylor, Kansas, Iowa State and others would have to find a place to “live.” Sounds simple but not really. Hopefully every team has a contingency plan in the works when A&M makes the announcement and files for a move.
According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, the term envy is defined as:
Are the Aggies envious of Texas’ money, attention, success? Most likely all of the above. Texas fans might miss beating A&M 9 out of 10 times the two teams play one another, but it will make for better peace and quiet.  Listening to the temper tantrums that are thrown incessantly gets old. Take your ball elsewhere and play with it.
