The Texas Longhorns find themselves as underdogs for the first time in the College Football Playoff (CFP) this year, after being favorites in first and second-round games against Clemson and Arizona State respectively.
Texas defeated both the Tigers and Sun Devils to advance to the Goodyear Cotton Bowl against Ohio State in the CFP Semifinals. In Friday’s contest however, the Buckeyes enter AT&T Stadium as six-point favorites against the Horns, according to MyBookie.ag.
The Longhorns and Buckeyes have played three times before with the last meeting coming in the Fiesta Bowl in 2009. Led by quarterback Colt McCoy’s 414 yard passing effort, Texas left Glendale, Arizona with a 24-21 victory to finish the season 12-1.
The winner of the Goodyear Cotton Bowl will advance to the CFP National Championship game, which is scheduled for January 20th at 6:30 PM at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. There, they will face the winner of the Notre Dame-Penn State game.
