Tom Herman and the Texas Football program received some big news on Friday afternoon when the nation’s top prospect, quarterback Quinn Ewers, verbally committed to play college football in Austin.
Ewers, a junior this season at Southlake Carroll High School, boasts a perfect 1.0000 rating and is ranked as the top player in the country in his class. He held offers from Alabama, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Florida, Georgia, LSU and many other elite programs. The Longhorns offered him in September of last year, and the Sooners and Buckeyes appeared to be the teams to beat for his services. While he still has two high school seasons left to play, the Texas program made an indelible impression on the young 6’3, 210 lb. signal-caller that has the potential to change the outcome of games on Saturdays.
Ewers becomes the second commitment in the class of 2022, joining Lancaster wide receiver Phaizon Wilson who committed on July 31st.
