The coveted Tight End will transition from the Bayou to the 40 Acres.
Peyton Aucoin committed over the telephone to the University of Texas on July 24, 2015, on his way home after a visit to UT with head coach Charlie Strong.
Aucoin, a 6-foot-4, 255-pound tight end, attends Brother Martin in New Orleans, Louisiana. He is a three-star recruit and received offers from schools such as Florida, Ole Miss and Arizona State. He
chose Texas for the “history of the program, and how I wanted to be a part of it,†Aucoin told HornSports.
Most schools stopped talking to Aucoin after his commitment to Texas.
“Florida hits me off every once and a while but other than that, [no one],†Aucoin said.
Aucoin considers himself a blocking tight end but recently scored his first touchdown of his senior season. He caught a seven-yard pass in the second quarter against Archbishop Rummel on Saturday, Oct. 24.
Tight End Irvin Smith, Aucoin’s Brother Martin teammate, has committed to Texas A&M. The two talk often about the old rivalry between the schools.
“Just about everyday we are messing around with each other about it, arguing over who is better,†Aucoin said.
When asked about the two schools possibly meeting up again, Aucoin said, “Yeah, that’d be awesome.â€
Aucoin is one of three Texas 2016 out-of-state verbal commits. When asked what he will miss the most about Louisiana, Aucoin said, “The food and my friends and family.â€
