Longhorns win 1, lose 2 at Houston College Classic

Texas vs. Rice

Texas looked as if it was prepared to make a statement during the Rice game on Friday evening at Minute Maid Park in the Houston College Classic.  The #21 Longhorns were facing a well-coached Wayne Graham Rice Owls team ranked 5th in the country but Texas put up 6 runs in the 5th inning that ultimately led to the first loss of the season for the Owls.    Starter Nathan Thornhill pitched 6 innings giving up 6 runs on 5 hits and Parker French notched his first save of the year giving up 2 runs in 3 innings pitched.  Brooks Marlow led the Longhorns with 3 RBI’s
