In a poll that asked Big 12 media members to select their favorites to win the 2012 conference football crown, the Texas Longhorns were pegged to finish third in the conference this season. The Oklahoma Sooners, winners of 7 Big 12 conference championships since 1996, led the pack with 32 of 41 first place votes. The West Virginia Mountaineers, newcomers to the Big 12 conference, landed in second place with a total of 7 first place votes. Texas fans should not be too surprised with the Longhorns landing in the the third place slot in the poll, especially since Oklahoma returns senior quarterback Landry Jones and West Virginia brings Heisman trophy contender Geno Smith under center for the Mountaineers again this year.  The TCU Horned Frogs and the Kansas State Wildcats each received one first place vote in the poll. The complete rankings of all team can be found below:
