On Thursday the Big 12 conference released its annual preseason media poll which is comprised of votes from media members that cover the conference. The Longhorns were picked to finish fourth overall, behind Oklahoma State, Oklahoma and TCU.  Six teams received first place votes with the Cowboys receiving a majority of 15 and a total of 365 points. Despite being ranked third, Gary Patterson’s Horned Frogs received more first-place votes than the second-ranked Sooners. The Longhorns received eight first place votes and had a total of 337 points.
Oklahoma State was picked first last year also but ended the 2012 season finishing fourth, behind Kansas State, Oklahoma and Texas. The Jayhawks are picked again to finish last.
