When we last paid attention to Kansas State this season, they were being upset at home by FCS #1 and two time defending National Champion North Dakota State 24-21. Â The Wildcats then recovered to win their second game against Louisiana Lafayette 48-27, before this past weekends game against UMass, it’s third consecutive home contest to open the year.
Kansas State running back John Hubert ground out 118 yards, and DB Kip Daily had two interceptions, returning one for a touchdown in a 37-7 Wildcats win.  New QB Jake Waters threw for 115 yards and two scores, but it was another slow start for EMAW.  UMass actually led the game 7-6 headed into the second quarter, but Kansas State blew it wide open with over 200 yards and three touchdowns in the frame.
From there, the Wildcats largely coasted to a 2-1 record and prepared for their first road trip this weekend.  In the post game press conference, Bill Snyder was “pleased” with his teams performance, but was quick to state he felt the Wildcats had much to work on coming to Austin. With the Longhorns giving up over 300 yards rushing per game, it will come as little comfort to Texas fans to learn Kansas State rushed for 329 yards on Saturday.
Texas has not beaten Kansas State since 2003, yet enters the game as an early seven point favorite. We’ll have more this week on Horn Sports.
