Jalen Milroe is a four-star dual-threat quarterback in the class of 2021. Hailing from Tompkins High School in Katy, Texas, the University of Texas has always been in the back of the young gunslinger’s mind. He shares the history he has with the Texas Longhorns, which schools are standing out, and the bond he has with fellow Longhorns recruit Tunmise Adeleye.

Jalen Milroe is fast becoming a hot commodity in the class of 2021.

Rated as the No. 3 dual-threat quarterback in the nation and the No. 11 player in Texas, he already has 19 offers heading into his junior year of high school football.

Along with the Texas Longhorns, Milroe boasts offers from schools such as Alabama, Arizona, Baylor, Florida, FSU, Houston, Nebraska, Oregon, and Texas A&M.

Milroe has the talent to turn around a program. Last season as a first time varsity starter, he led Tompkins to a 10-3 season, after the team had went winless the season before.

Through the air, he finished the season with 1,404 yards, 1o touchdowns, three interceptions, and averaged 108 yards per game.

On the ground, Milroe recorded 613 yards and and impressive 10 touchdowns.

During The Opening Regional in Houston back in March, Milroe put up eyebrow raising test numbers.

The 6-foot-2, 194 pounder runs a 4.64 second 40-yard dash, a 4.38 second shuttle, and has a vertical jump of 34.80 inches.

As a passer, Milroe throws a clean spiral with solid accuracy. Combined with his threat as a runner, the young recruit is a dangerous threat to his opponent’s end zone.

It is not a surprise Texas decided to offer Milroe, especially after the success of dual-threat Sam Ehlinger.

Milroe says the moment he was offered by the Longhorns, was a special one.

“This offer means a lot. I have watched Texas ever since I played youth ball. I always threw up the Hook Em sign to parents because I loved the program. I have family members who went to Texas and I grew up in Texas, so I have that background in my family.”

A few months ago, HornSports did a story on Milroe’s Tompkins teammate Tunmise Adeleye, where he proclaimed that he and Milroe were planning on going to the same college together.

Both four-star recruits on the Longhorns’ radar, we asked Milroe if the plan to play college ball with Adeleye is still rock solid.

“Both Tunmise and I are trying to find the school that fits each other individually. If the school that fits us is the same school, that would be great. We have talked about this since our freshman year of high school.”

Milroe visited the Longhorns on June 22, he says the visit went well.

I truly enjoyed my time at Texas. I was able to talk to coach Herman for the first time and it went great. The players were around the campus so it was cool hearing how it is to be an athlete at Texas. I was also able to go around and check out the athletic facility, which was real nice.

Milroe says he already is building a solid foundation with head coach Tom Herman and offensive coordinator and quarterback coach Tim Beck.

“My relationship with coach Herman and Beck are both great. I like hearing their philosophies about the program and how they coach their players. I want to continue my relationship with the both of them.”

As mentioned before, Milroe has no shortage of schools after his talents, and his offer list will only grow once football season starts up again.

The Longhorns are putting themselves ahead of the pack early with the young recruit.

“There are some schools that are standing out to me, and Texas is definitely one of them.”

What is Milroe looking for in a school? He details his most important bullet points.

“I’m looking for a school that has a family atmosphere, a true brotherhood in the locker room, and where I have a great opportunity to get my degree as well as compete and get on the field.”

Currently, Texas has one quarterback commit in 2020 four-star Hudson Card. Already on roster is fellow four-stars Casey Thompson and Roschon Johnson.

For the class of 2021, Texas has one commit in four-star wide receiver Quaydarius Davis.
