The #18 Texas Longhorns (1-0, 0-0 Big 12) will host the Delaware State Hornets (0-1, 0-0 MEAC) on Friday night in the first ever matchup between the two programs.
The Longhorns won their season opener on Monday night, defeating Incarnate Word 88-56 at the Moody Center. Five Longhorns reached double digits in scoring against the Cardinals, with UCF graduate transfer Ithiel Horton leading Texas in scoring with 17 points. Texas shot 50.8% from the floor and held UIW to 29.7% while forcing 17 turnovers in the win.
Delaware State, led by head coach Stan Waterman, fell at Penn State 45-79 to start the Hornets’ season with a loss. Junior forward Alston Andrews led the Hornets in scoring with 4 points, with Waterman’s bench players contributing 19 points in the loss. Delaware State also forced 21 turnovers against the Nittany Lions.
The Longhorns are heavily favored in this game.
Texas is 23-8 under head coach Rodney Terry who is in his first full season as head coach of the Longhorns. The Longhorns are 17-1 all-time at Moody Center and have played in front of a sellout crowd in all 18 of those games.
The game will be televised on Longhorn Network with tipoff coming at 8:00 PM CST.
