The Texas Longhorns (5-0) upset the 6th ranked North Carolina Tarheels (5-1) 92-89 at the Continental Tire Las Vegas International on Thursday evening. Senior guard Kerwin Roach led the Longhorns with a career-high 32 points, including 7 assists, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. The win over Roy Williams’ Tarheels was the fourth straight for Texas, who have won eight of the last nine in the series.
Sophmore guard Matt Coleman III scored 16 points and had 5 rebounds and freshman forward Jaxson Hayes had a 15 point effort on the night with 9 rebounds and 3 blocked shots. Senior Dylan Osetkowski reached double digits in scoring, adding 14 points in the win.
North Carolina freshman point guard Colby White led all scorers with 33 points.
Texas shot 52.5 percent from the floor compared to North Carolina’s 44.3 percent.
The Longhorns will face Michigan State on Friday at 5:30 PM in the title game of the Continental Tire Las Vegas International.
