The Longhorns head to Ames, Iowa this week to face the Cyclones and hope to avoid a four-game losing streak by leaving Ames with a win. Matt Campbell and Iowa State own a two-game win streak against Texas, and they also have a nine-game winning streak against Big 12 opponents at home. The task for the Longhorns will be to limit running back Breece Hall, the Big 12’s leading rusher (averaging 123 yards per game), while ensuring Casey Thompson has success and time to make passes downfield.
The Cyclones rank 15th in the nation in total defense, which means Steve Sarkisian’s offensive game plan needs to be multi-dimensional and full of wrinkles.
Both teams are reeling from losses, with Texas losing in Waco to the Bears 31-24 and Iow State losing at West Virginia 38-31.
