This Saturday, the Texas Longhorns will travel to Atlanta to take on the Georgia Bulldogs in the SEC Championship Game. Today, our Devon Messinger and Dylan DeRaud discuss their scouting report of the Bulldogs in the YouTube video above.

Georgia’s quarterback, Carson Beck, has a strong offensive line that does a great job protecting him and opening up space for the run game. But Beck hasn’t always made the best decisions with that protection. He’s tied for fourth in the country with 12 interceptions this season, although he’s also eighth in passing yards with 3,429. His ability to make good decisions and throw accurately will likely decide this game.

The Bulldogs might be missing running back Trevor Etienne, who scored three touchdowns in their last game against Texas. That means receivers like Arian Smith and Dominic Lovett will need to step up and make plays. Especially after dropping several passes against Georgia Tech last week.

For Texas, stopping Georgia’s unpredictable but dangerous offense will take their best effort on Saturday.

Messinger’s Scouting Report of the Georgia Defense:

This season, the Bulldogs have the 25th-ranked scoring defense. Leading the way defensively for Georgia is sophomore linebacker CJ Allen and junior safety Malaki Starks. To this point in the season, both of these impact players have led the team in tackles with 65 apiece.

Meanwhile, after struggling earlier in the year, the Georgia defense has improved at getting to opposing quarterbacks. Now, Georgia is tied for 35th in the country in sacks, tallying 2.5 per game. On Saturday, the Longhorns will have to watch out for junior linebacker Jalon Walker and senior outside linebacker Chaz Chambliss, who both have 5.5 sacks on the year.
