Staring down a five-run deficit before the first inning was even complete, No. 4 Texas didn’t flinch. The Longhorns erupted for 13 consecutive runs Tuesday night, turning a near-disaster into a dominant 14-7 victory over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at UFCU Disch-Falk Field, the program’s largest come-from-behind win of the 2026 season.
Texas (28-7) found themselves in an early hole twice, trailing 5-0 after the first inning and 6-1 through three, before a methodical, lineup-wide offensive assault dismantled the Islanders (16-20) piece by piece.
Tinney Takes Over
Junior catcher Carson Tinney was the engine driving it all. The 6-foot-3, 240-pound backstop set a career high with five RBI, doing damage in four straight innings to orchestrate the rally. He opened the scoring in the third with a towering 416-foot solo home run — his sixth in as many games, then kept the pressure on with an RBI double to right-center in the fourth, a run-scoring groundout in the fifth, and a two-RBI punch in the six-run sixth. Few players in the country are swinging a hotter bat right now.
Reinforcements Around the Lineup
Tinney didn’t do it alone. Three other Longhorns joined him with multi-RBI nights, turning what could have been a quiet loss into a statement performance.
- Josh Livingston reached base safely four consecutive times, driving in runs in three straight innings and drawing the go-ahead bases-loaded walk in the fifth — finishing 2-for-3 with three RBI
- Dariyan Pendergrass, making his first start at UFCU Disch-Falk Field, recorded three RBI via a sacrifice fly, an RBI single, and a perfectly executed safety squeeze in his first game in burnt orange
- Anthony Pack Jr. contributed two RBI, including an early sacrifice fly and a game-tying knock in the fourth
All nine Texas starters recorded a hit, with the Longhorns collecting 16 total hits and drawing 11 walks. To top it off, Texas swiped seven bases — the most in a single game since swiping eight against Prairie View A&M back in April 2015.
Bullpen Shuts the Door
Right-hander Hudson Hamilton (2-0) earned the win out of the bullpen, delivering a season-best 3⅓ scoreless innings while matching his career high with four strikeouts. Six other relievers combined to support Hamilton, with Texas’ bullpen collectively allowing just three runs over nine innings while striking out 10 and walking only one batter.
What’s Next
The Longhorns don’t have long to celebrate the midweeker. No. 8 Alabama comes to Austin for a marquee three-game weekend series beginning Friday at 6:30 p.m. CST at UFCU Disch-Falk Field, in a matchup that could carry serious national ranking implications for both programs.
