It happened again. AWOL. Daeshon Hall, the 6-6, 220 lb. Defensive End from Lancaster High School has pulled out of his commitment to play football at the University of Texas. Hall told the Texas coaches today that he was certain he wanted to decommit while he considered the options available to him, which include potentially moving back home or playing college football closer to his dad in Seattle. Stating the distance from his family as the primary reason for his decision to keep his options open, Hall has named Notre Dame, USC, Oregon, Washington and Texas A&M as potential schools he could play at. Yes… Texas A&M. College Station is close to Washington State, right?
Hall has reiterated that Texas is still a possibility but Mack Brown and his staff will more than likely revert to “Plan B” and kick the recruiting efforts into a gear only known to a higher power. It was fortuitous that Texas plans on playing Jake Raulerson on the defensive side of the ball, which will help tremendously, but Torrodney Prevot just became a lot more valuable in the eyes of Texas. Prevot, a 4-star recruit from Houston Alief-Taylor has a ton of offers but maintains Texas is still “high” on his list of potential schools.
It is not pretty and the coaching staff knows it, but there is plenty of time and there are plenty of available recruits that remain uncommitted. The Longhorns need to shake this off and take a word of advice from Stephen Covey: “Begin with the End in Mind.” The best come to play at Texas and this class will be no different.
